Blue Moon

Blue Moon from HonoraA Blue Moon is a 13th full moon occurring within a given year.  The blues and grays surrounding each full moon have inspired our latest selection of pearl jewelry.  As it turns out, December 31st was the first time in 19 years that we experienced a Blue Moon on New Year’s Eve.  This could not have come at a better time as everyone at Honora is so excited to launch our latest pearl color combination aptly named, Blue Moon.  We are so excited to premiere this rare attraction of Gray, Teal and Navy Freshwater Pearls as our first new collection for 2010!

This evocative color collection of Cultured Pearls felt like the perfect way to start the new year.  Our Sr. Merchandising Manager, Larry Lippert, “L’array”, who creates our color combinations, had this to say, “Denim is center-stage in fashion again and I wanted to work with our newest blue tones to make a statement, even when dressing casually.”

We think you will love the 8-9 MM selection featured in our NY Times ad.  You can click here to see our entire selection of Blue Moon designs on our Collections Page.  These items are available now at our retail store on Madison Avenue and at your local authorized Honora dealer.

You can always reach us for more information by calling us at 212.308.8707, emailing us at retail57@honora.com or go to our Where to Buy page for your local retailer.

Colorful Pearls from Honora

We have always loved pushing the boundries of pearl jewelry here at Honora.  From the popular fashion items we have created over the years, including Pearl Floaters and Pearl & Leather, to the very introduction of Freshwater Pearls themselves, Honora strives to make pearl jewelry something that everyone can get excited about.

Over the past few years, this passion for a more fashion-forward pearl has led us to develop a way to infuse an unimagined array of pearl colors into Freshwater Pearls.  This pearl palette has allowed us to create color combinations that have exceeded even our wildest expectations.  While Joel and Ralph have been essential in developing the process through which we infuse our pearls with radiant color, no one in the pearl world has managed to do more with these pearl colors than our very own Larry Lippert.

25 years after Larry started working at Honora, he discovered a flair for putting color combinations together that have never been seen before in pearls.  Joel has even gone as far as renaming him “L’array” after the array of pearl colors that Larry uses to create his unique and colorful pearl designs. “The past 5 or 6 years have probably been the most fun and satisfying years I’ve had,” says Larry on his love of working with Honora’s amazing range of pearl colors.

Since Honora learned to infuse Freshwater Pearls in new and astounding colors, Larry had created several of the most successful collections, including Rainforest, Bluestone, Safari, Midnight and Santa Fe.  “I really don’t know where it came from, but now, I see color combinations in everything,” says Larry. “I take a lot of kidding about the L’array thing, but in all my years in this business I’ve never been involved in a product that is so fashionable, so much fun and has the value as the freshwater pearls do.”

This love of color is a passion held by everyone here at Honora.  Each morning, the women who work here at Honora go into Larry’s office asking to be L’array’d, their term for being dressed in one of his necklaces or bracelets.  We are constantly astounded by the color combinations that Larry creates and cannot wait to show you all of the colors to come.

Let us know your favorite color combination or  suggest one that we are yet to create in the comments section.

Larry Lippert (L’array) – Sr. Merchandise Director

Tuesday, November 10th, 2009

Larry Lippert - L'array - Honora PearlsAfter more than 35 years of working in Sales and Operations in the jewelry industry, Larry discovered that he had a unique eye for pearl colors.  Seeing the new colors Honora was able to infuse into Freshwater Pearls, Larry began creating some of the most popular color combinations in our company’s history, including our Rainforest, Bluestone, Safari, Midnight and Santa Fe Collections.  This pearl palette and Larry’s innate flair for combining color have become a big part of Honora’s Freshwater Pearl Jewelry.  His combinations are constantly featured on QVC, QVC UK and can be seen at fine independent and national retail jewelry stores.

Larry began his jewelry career in 1973 after graduating SUNY Buffalo with Zale Corporation’s buying office in N.Y. as an assistant buyer. He worked his way up to Vice President of the Guild Division buyers by 1980 with a stop along the way as a retail manager for Granat Brothers, a Guild store chain in the San Francisco area. He joined Honora in 1982 in sales where he began to acquire extensive experience and education in Cultured Pearls.  He is now involved in running the day-to-day operations alongside Roberta Schechter, co-owner of Honora. In addition to designing, Larry also works very closely with Ralph Rossini, president of Honora, creating all our ads that appear in national fashion magazines as well as the NY Times.

Larry lives in Pleasantville, NY, with his wife, Judi and has a daughter, Joanna, and a son, Michael. He works out regularly at the gym and loves a day playing golf.
